Live Workshop: You Ask The Questions!

Presenter:

Greg "Doc Lures" Vinall

Aquatic Scientist, Luremaker and ALF Podcast Host

Greg's spent a few decades exploring Australia's waterways as a scientist and avid lure fisho. Over the past fifteen years he's taught thousands of anglers all around the world to make timber hard body lures through his eBooks, online classes and workshops. Greg founded and hosts the popular Australian Lure Fishing Podcast and developed the concept of the Fishing Q&A website live workshops.

About This Presentation:

Stratification is a natural process that occurs annually in many lakes and estuaries. Why’s it important to anglers? Because stratification can make some parts of a waterway uncomfortable - even toxic - to fish, causing them to aggregate in other parts of the system. In many systems it drives the behaviour of both fish and bait.... I’d say that makes it pretty important when you’re deciding where to toss a lure or fly!

Many top anglers have a pretty good understanding of stratification in lakes and they use it to their advantage. But in estuaries it’s a different story because tidal influences complicate things quite a lot.

What We’ll Be Covering:

This is a Live Q&A Workshop and I’ll have a presentation prepared, but mostly I’ll be answering the questions posed by our participants. You’ll be prompted to post your questions before the workshop so I can prepare slides, photos, videos and other materials. You’ll also be able to message me during the workshop.

The general topics we expect to cover include:

  • What a thermocline is, how it forms and why it’s important.
  • What the other “clines” are and how they affect fish.
  • Why estuaries are complicated and how to understand them.
  • Recognising thermoclines on your electronics
